The defense's case relied heavily on victim blaming to absolve Mac of any kind of responsibility. Under normal circumstances, he was a good boy who would have gone above and beyond to help anybody they all said. He was only after Betty's ceaseless melodramatic badgering that he lost the power to apply logic. The problem is that we're relying on a bunch of 17 year olds to say whether he was saying or not.
