Baruch and the Jews of Babylon
The Book of Baruch was written in the fifth year on the seventh day of the month. The Chaldeans took Jerusalem and burned it with fire at that time. All who dwelt in Babylon by the river Sud wept and fasted and prayed before the Lord. They collected money, each giving what he could, and they sent it to Jerusalem.
