Is There a Language for Autism?

Autism as a formal diagnosis is not that old. The first man who was ever diagnosed as being autistic is still alive today and he's in his 80s. I use diagnosis because it's a shorthand so that people can understand, you know, there was my life before I understood myself and a life after I understood myself. It gives you a language to both understand yourself better and then to advocate for yourself.
