How Does Serving Others Affect Your Health?

Research supports that people who volunteer to serve others are, on average, have longevity er life. There are five different mechanisms of action by which serving others can effect really the biology of your own body. When we are focused on compassion for others it actually activates a reward centre of the brain associated with positive afac feelings of affiliation. Over time being other focused is associated with down regulation of genes that produce systemic inflammation. And when a produced in large quantities over time, systemic inflammation is associated with not only cardiovasco disease, in cancer. Lastly, serving others can buffer your own stress response, specifically as it relates to longevity.
