Labour's Fracking Vote - What's Going On?
Labour are playing a really nifty political game here because they've got what's called an opposition day. If the vote passed, which it would if Tory MPs abstained on mass, then it would be a pathway to legislation to ban fracking. Liz Truss and her whips have kind of found themselves stuck because either they abstain and ignore it as they do normally or you risk handing over the legislative platform to Labour. Chris Gidmore, who is the government's own net zero czar, has said that he's got to vote against. Tracy Kreitre from a minister amongst the Tory backbenchers has also said that she will. It all adds to this sort of this fever
