Spencer's Use of Old Antiquated Words in the English Language

Spencer's poem and the language he used were very influential. Many scholars think the fairy queen was a major influence on Shakespeare's play, A Midsummer Night's Dream. Spencer provides the first recorded use of several such words in the English language. He also coined another portmanteau, the word Screws.
