People tend to get more attention if they're critical of the other side, he says. The algorithms in these spaces are being asked to maximize profit, writes David Frum. "I think it's a developed taste to enjoy speaking across difference," said Frum.

What is the New Enlightenment? What might it mean to improve our epistemics with regard to institutions? How should we fix imbalanced salience in contexts where misinformation is a problem (like news media)? How have the economics of institutions deteriorated?
