Political orientations are more like very broad narratives with psychological meaning than they are consistent sets of axi s that are rationally applied to any given situation. The really intense motivation that provides for over all political conflict can't really be plausibly subsumed under a general theme of aversion to change. It's a phenomenon unto itself that deserves its own independent, unique explanation.
