The Future of France and Germany in Mali

France and Germany didn't really have a huge economic interest in Mali. So I think it's really difficult to encourage that trade and investment because companies don't really want to go into an authoritarian regime. In the next five years France and French rule will be to try and contain the spread of terrorism and also encourage economic development. But as we said earlier on I think that's really difficult. It's also really difficult for the European Union to do that especially in the Sahel and West Africa. The problem with that is that it's also extremely focused on African states containing terrorism and migration. And so if leaders shifts change and they say they don't want France anymore, I think France would leave
