will editorialize here I think that as demographically the United States fewer people are identifying with an organized religion and so the types of problems that you used to go talk to your spiritual leader about sadness feeling low feeling lost lack of direction kind of existential problems we're having more people seek mental health care so I think this is an area where psychiatrists really need to be versed is sort of spirituality belonging meaning purpose and I think yeah it's important to touch upon because for a lot of people it is the single most centering force in their entire lives yeah

and this is sort of anecdote I don't know if you want to include her or not but I um recently Jean tweens she's a sociologist her two main books are Generation B on millennials and different data around that which I read in college as a millennial I did not love the book I thought for different reasons but very interesting ideas but then she recently had iGeneration it's her newer book on Gen Z population or she's pointing at iGeneration but she makes the point that that generation are millennials are more likely to say they're spiritual but not aligned with a particular religion but so identify with a spiritual connection but Gen Z doesn't really they don't identify as spiritual anymore either so it's a continuing downshift and what will that look like you know and how will that impact these folks as we think about the bio-psychosocial spiritual model people are moving you know and I don't you know not saying that in a general toy but how will that impact that sort of as a component to who people people are people are really identifying with that oh
