The Relative Value Volatilities and Long Volatility

There is a sharp distinction between relative value volatility and long volatility. This year has been quite good for r v, which can implicitly rely upon stability of market action. The cute strategies, the try and finance carry, have had low bleed in many cases but may not offer the protection they need to if things get bad. Even some strategies that look very attractive, i don't do them, so i'm happy to talk about them without giving any advice.
