The President Cannot Be Prosecuted While He Is in Office
There may be a constitutional prohibition against continuing the prosecution once that person is inaugurated as president. The executive branch takes the position that the president cannot be prosecuted while he is in office. But that is a matter that only would come into play were trump re elected and then inaugurated. It doesn't affect somebody who is merely a candidate.
