The Battle of Lewisburg
The Pembroke was part of a large force gathered for a move into the Gulf of St. Lawrence and up the river to break French power in Canada. The siege at Lewisburg, which went from June 8 until July 26, 1758, allowed the British to enter the harbor. Cook would work honing his skills as a surveyor. His first survey was titled Survey of Gaspe Bay and Harbor by James Cook, master of his Majesty's ship, the PemBroke.
