What Is the Flood Narrative Trying to Teach Us?
The author of genesis draws inspiration from flood stories in the ancient neareas. The biblical author uses this as the setting for his narrative, like jesus often used first century palestine to teach a spiritual lesson. Even though there was no specific flood behind the great flood, there were floods, and the author drew inspiration that and used it to teach us these spiritual lessons about god's providence.
