GraphQL vs REST?

GraphQL stands for Graph Query Language. It is an alternate way that you can build your API to be queried. With a REST API, what you would do is obviously you need to get the user's data and then this gives you back a bunch of JSON or XML with the user's name,. And then you can use that to render your page. But with a GraphQL API, you would send this query, usually the convention is API slash GraphQL. So it's easiest to think about GraphQL on the problems it was trying to solve. The two problems were over-fetching.
