Schlimann and the Treasure of Priam

Schlimann found Troy in Anatolia, then went on to Mycenae and the palaces of Iliad's heroes. He also discovered nine different cities built on top of the remains of the previous one. On the very last day of excavations they found gold, a huge stash of treasure. News of this discovery, which Schlimann of course called the treasure of Priam, caused a sensation.
