David Baum has been developing the hidden variable theory. It holds that there is a realm of invariables that explain, that control is all quantum processes and will get us out of all these puzzles if we look hard enough. Evan Harris Walker has developed this by showing that the hidden variables if they exist must function nonlocally. But it does seem mighty odd from the point of view of what's called common sense according to some physicists.
