The Destructive Effects of Cults on Youth
The Peace Corps is an extension of the Cold War and it's mind boggling once you get into it. It reminds me very much of the sort of secular mainstream, not only accepted but celebrated version of a Mormon mission. I'm a current volunteer and the cultiest thing is how they indoctrinate us to believe that we are serving 24-7. The way that they build solidarity among the young people who enlist in the Peace Corps and AmeriCorps was flabbergasted by how culty it was.
