"We all have stories. Most of us just don't get the chance to tell them," she says. "I was thinking of these people as I sat down to work on my fifth book and it was fairly natural that they would bubble to the surface because they had an effect on me emotionally" The author has a disabled child so sees how invisible her community can be. She believes there's a lot of crossover with older people oftentimes but it's wrongheaded, too.
