The Grandmother Paradox - A Novel Review

The story is for the most part set not in the modern day, but in the brutal, violent setting of the Marilyn plantation that Rufus grows up to inherit. Dana finds that she cannot repair the past, just as contemporary African Americans continue to experience the legacy of slavery. Both black and white people are suspicious of her white way of talking, which makes her seem like some kind of traitor.
