i spoke to a doctor from the yale school of medicine, where she leads writing workshops. And asked her about her feelings and on retelling patients stories. She says it's not ways clear if it's appropriate to share a particular story. Patients don't expect their doctors to be mining their experiences for cool things to write about. i would be personally horrified and furious if i came across an essay that somebody wrote about me.
