Is There a Difference Between Homebrew and Open Source?
In gethub, staff engineers and principal engineers do not have direct reports. In a lot of ways, that's very similar to open source where on home brew, i can't ever tell anyone a con do - but they won't necessarily do it. So in both cases, you can have someone who has effectively no hard power, but quite a lot of soft power. And there's definitely times, even in the last year, where i've been quite frustrated that i don't have more hard power than i lose arguments.
