Liberalism vs. Christianity (DC Schindler’s The Politics of the Real–2)
Political Philosophy
What Is Liberalism?
Liberalism substitutes the specific God of Judeo Christianity that emerges and unfolds in history. And therefore God isn't just anything and everything that people want him to be or think that he can be, but is truly this one expression as he himself is determined to express himself in human history. People don't believe strongly in things that are just sort of optional, and kind of true, but no more true than anything else. That's not a real claim, certainly not this religious tradition. We live in a time when people are more comfortable with deeply questioning this prior realism of liberalism.
