Tangentially Speaking with Christopher Ryan
The Paradox of Language
I think language is often at the root of the problem here you know a lot of this especially a phrase like calm down which is used to dismiss one's feelings. One of the great tragedies of of modernity is that therapists can't touch patients because I think so much of what people need especially kids is touch is to be held and as a therapist to sit in a room with a 10 year old who's in tears and not reach out and give him or her a hug is more "criminal" than anything else.
