J. Robert Oppenheimer was one of the most notable figures in the Manhattan Project. As a student, he split his attention among topics as diverse as quantum theory and Sanskrit. His passion for ethics eventually led him to join the Communist Party. In 1942, shortly after the U.S. officially entered World War II, he joined thehattan Project.
