Cynicism as a driving force for how people interact with the world and a general sense of giving up. The collective stories that we tell something that I've written a lot about influence how people feel. People prefer bad news to good news because bad news provides them with a survival Emotion while good news threatens them would change. So when things are going okay, it doesn't always feel that way.
