How to Do Close Reading on Your Own
Lewis told Tolkien that Hobbits are most interesting when they're in un-Hobbit-like situations. And so I think it gets more and more interesting to see these four Hobbits become more and more crucial to the whole quest to destroy the brain. Do you have principles for close reading? Would you say slow down, look up words you don't know, notice metaphors?
