Speakers often use disambiguating language to make their sentences as clear as possible for the listener. In an experiment, speakers said i knew that you more frequently than they did I knew thatyou. The researchers say this could be because when pronouns repeat, it's easier for people to think of one word at a time and not two or three different words all together.
