Ludwig's patients can present early on in this spectrum with just sore throat to struggling to breathe. With advanced Ludwig's, we may see signs of true error compromise such as respiratory distress and cyanosis. CT neck with IV contrast is the modality of choice for these patients. It can show soft tissue thickening, loss of fat planes, and muscle edema.
