i've always been interested in luther s doctrine, and i haven't ever gotten around to reading much historical theology on the subject. Luther picks up this idea at hac initially, it fixes a problem for him. He thinks he has biblical support for it from ephesians four ten. And he reaches back to the mediaeval nominalist tradition.
