Cognitive Behavioral Therapy for Anxiety Disorders

Cognitive behavioral therapy has been shown across the anxiety disorders to have small to large effect sizes but overall to be fairly comparable to our first-line treatments. It is a short-term targeted intervention so while there are some cross-diagnostic anxiety disorder interventions there are also specific packages in the realm of 12 to 16 weeks that are developed with a rough protocol for clinicians to follow. The core aspect which I think it's actually really helpful for primary care doctors to understand is helping patients go back into situations that they're avoiding.
