There are mystical ways to use the bible, and this has been going on for hundreds of years. The holy scripture just adds another layer of umph to the workings because they've have been passed down in the psalms. And so as we are saying these psalms, that it's like cleansing us from the inside out and clearing away, like, the negative thought forms that come in.
