Major General Fuller was a guest of honour at Hitler's birthday celebrations. After quitting the British army in bitterness and frustration, he turned to fascism. He supported authoritarian anti-Semitic parties both in Britain and overseas. In 1917, Fuller had been planning the defeat of the German army. 13 months later, on Adolf Hitler's orders, German tanks rolled through Belgium, Holland and France.
