The Dearth of Political Ideas
Franklin: I was always very shy and couldn't imagine doing what politicians need to do in order to run for office. The second question you had was whether you agree with something that we would discuss with Michael Inatiev, that there's a dearth of political ideas. Well, the answer to that could be that we're actually at the end of history. We've on a cyclical basis gone through all the major political forms that are possible. Now we're returning to a stronger state, more state intervention in the economy. It's not a new idea, but it actually may be one of the solutions to some of the problems that we're experiencing right now.
