The Eurozone's Struggle to Protect Stability and Growth
Germans were breaking the rules in the beginning of the Eurozone, he says. Now they want to go back to old rules because it gives them a lot of leverage,. So if the other countries have public deficits, which are too high, then of course the Germans can tell those countries what to do. And that's what they want. Okay, so the rules, the public deficit limits, this is not about economics. It's about power distribution.
For currency-issuing governments, taxes for revenue are obsolete, so what *are* they for? Patricia & Christian talk to economist and author Dr Dirk Ehnts about the role of taxation in modern money systems, banking regulation, inflation, new eurozone fiscal rule proposals, and more.
