The Three Kinds of Friendship
Aristotle writes that there are three kinds of friendship. Thomas Aquinas reminds us, when it comes to friendship, the perfect should not be the enemy of the good. Friendships of utility and friendships of pleasure are inferior forms of friendship, Aristotle says. Still, we wish friends of utility and friends of pleasure good - and they wish us good as well.
