The Imperial Food Products Fire in North Carolina Killed 25 People
25 people died in the Imperial food products fire, one of the deadliest industrial disasters in North Carolina history. The youngest victim was Cynthia Marie Ratliff who was 20 years old. More than half of the women were black and most of them were mothers or grandmothers. 49 children were made orphans because of the fire including 12-year-old Terrell Quick whose mother Mary Alice Quick was found dead inside the factory.
