The book is about eight different historical sites, nine if you include the prologue at new orleans. Part of what i wanted to do was go to places that represented a sort of patchwork of memories and experiences. I didn't want the book to be a sort of overwhelming physical artifect. But my hope is that in going to one place, i am able to tease out some of the themes and ideas that one migt find in other places. And so, maybe there'll be a part too, who knows.
