The Responsibility of Science Fiction
I don't think that there's a responsibility to be plausible because it's not an educational project and it's not presenting itself as fact. I do remember times where especially as a kid, I was not clear on the contract. In sci-fi, we know it's fiction. So we're not expecting it to be. Everyone is on the same page about what the rules are, that it's fiction inspired by science. And knowing more about something makes it less scary.
