In 1972, Richard Nixon's president of the United States was trying to oust him from office. He nominated a running mate named Senator Thomas Eglton who turned out to be mentally and emotionally ill. Mulvaney: "I am looking at the country today and I see a country that has gone morally nuts" The idea that some men are righteous enough to rule over others is one of the oldest in the world, he says.
