The Role of God in Jonah's Life

In the book of Psalms, Jonah says that God hurled him into the depths. He is not responsible for his own sin; it was someone else's fault who put him in this position. The scriptures show us how God uses people to mold himself and their character so they come to understand themselves as creatures made in the image of their creator. In severe mercy, he may deal with us in ways we might hate ourselves because we make the poor captains of our own ship.
