The Importance of Prayer
If you read it as a list of virtues, then naturally the next step is to read it as an de facto commands. Jesus does not command, there's not a command here, right? That's not lost in translation, it's right in front of you. So what is it then? If it's not on a list of commands and it's not a list of timeless truths, then what is it? Well, first off, this is the gospel of Jesus. The early church defined the gospel this way. Turn back to page 1 and Matthew. Look to the top. The gospel according to Matthew. So what's the gospel? Everything.
