The Importance of Synchronic and Diachronic Perspectives in Linguistics

The course reflects the importance of these two perspectives synchrony and diachrony. So looking at language diachronically across time how it evolves and changes in in time or focusing on a relatively stable arrangement of signs within a given era. And so for example if we're reading the introduction to the course we will learn about the existence of these two basic points of view synchronous one and the diachron is one.
