The pilot knows that they're banking to the right. He looks at his a d i, and like a sat the instrument's horizontal reference line starts rotating rapidly to the left and goes vertical. They don't know what's going on at this point. And could they not tell that they were that off, that sideways? I guess it's hard to tell sometimes, especially if you can't see.
