Diana Evans' most recent novel, Ordinary People, was shortlisted for the Women's Prize for Fiction. The book is about two middle class black London couples and their relationships over the course of one year. It begins with a party to celebrate the first election win of Barack Obama - doesn't it? Yeah, it sure does. That does seem to be a recurring device in my fiction that I use these large global and cultural political moments to kind of ground the lives of my characters," she says.
