Freud's Analogies to Archaeology
Last week Jamie read this long extended analogy comparing the work of an archaeologist to that of a psychoanalyst. Now we discussed how rich and indulgent almost Freud's prose becomes in this passage. So I thought it might be quite nice to just read the first time that this analogy makes its appearance in an extended form at least. This is from the etiology of hysteria a paper was published in 1896.
