There just aren't enough profe sonals who can assist in the planning and maintenance of thousands of up and coming towns and small cities. About 52 % of statutary towns in india lack any kind of master plan. The idea that we could ape western planning and somehow make it work locally is a bit dubious at best, so perhaps there's a need to review the whole planning approaches. And finally, we need to build more capacity to address the many problems plaguing urban planning in India.
