Charles the Countess of Darby

The Countess of Darby seems to have been more warlike than just about anyone that I heard of in the war she never seemed to know what quite went to give up. She incredibly bravely on well two famous occasions one that siege of her has in Lancashire at the end of the Civil War and once in holding until the bitter end the Isle of Man in the early 1650s but the first siege was a French woman very very blue blooded aristocratic French woman by birth. It's a time-honored characteristic of periods of war that women put you know the nature of the role of women changes as is seen during World War II.
