The Different Types of Political Formations Existing Side by Side
We have to imagine different types of political formations existing side by side, even if we can't understand exactly what they are in each place, archaeologically. And I think probably that's clearest when we're talking about the Mycenaean palatial period where we have these nice big palaces, but we also have most of the Greek world that doesn't seem to have anything to do with a palace. So there the difference is pretty stark.
