Reoffending Rates
Charge rates, the proportion of crimes that result in a suspect being charged or summons to appear in court, have plummeted. They have gone down by 10 percentage points from 2014-15 and you can't have a conviction without someone being charged. So the conviction rate is going to be even lower. We've also seen a significant fall in the proportion of Crimes which result in a caution,. A simple caution has gone from 4.6% down to 1%. That's a 3.6 percentage point drop.
